We want to ensure our children with SEN continue to make progress once their time at nursery comes to an end. Working together with parents and local primary schools we put together an exit plans to ensure this happens.

Some of the ways we provide on-going support include:

  • providing specialist teaching assistants to support individual children to access local mainstream schools.
  • providing sponsors to enable children to attend Kyomya Primary School, one of Uganda’s few Government SEN primary classes.
  • providing ‘after-school coaching’ sessions for primary aged children, supporting children with their specific difficulties in a smaller learning environment.

Some of the children we work with have a developmental or learning delay as a result of sickness in infancy but with the right support at this early stage have been able to play catch up with their peers, moving on to cope successfully with mainstream primary classes.
